FAQ
FAQs
Cakes and confections have a tendency to be finicky little things sometimes. Temperature, time and storage are all things to take into account when ordering items and preserving leftovers for later enjoyment (IF there are any).

Cutting your cake -
Once your cake has been tempered properly, you are ready to cut! You can either slice into triangular wedges like you typically might do or you can slice the cake into strips and then cut those strips into long, rectangular slices. The latter will provide more slices per cake and is recommended for larger groups!
How do I store my cookies?
Once you have acquired your cookies, you can choose to leave them in their original packaging IF you are going to be consuming them the same day, or transfer them to an airtight container and leave at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you are planning to hold onto them for longer, keep them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month. Keep in mind, frozen cookies will need to be allowed time to temper before consuming, so leave them at room temperature for a few hours to defrost.
How do I store my cake after pick-up?
Once you receive your cake, you should place it in the fridge immediately. This will ensure that the structure and decor stay in tact. You should consume the cake within the same day you picked it up (or the next day if necessary) - but never consume it cold, straight from the fridge. Cakes should always be eaten at room temperature, so allow them to sit out for 45 min - 1 hour before serving. Trust me, it will taste so much better!!
How do I store cake leftovers?
Leftover cake slices should be placed in an airtight container and kept in the fridge for up to a few days. If your cake is not sliced completely, you can cover the cut sides in plastic wrap and store in the fridge. If you really want to keep your cake for an extended period of time - you can freeze the cake slices if properly wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in airtight containers.
How much notice is needed for custom cakes?
Ideally, about a weeks notice. For 8" cakes, or smaller, I am more likely to be able to accommodate a shorter notice. For larger cakes or wedding cakes, a months notice is preferred. I will always try to accommodate any requests that have been submitted, so be sure to reach out as soon as you can but if you need a last minute order, please ask and I will do my best to make it happen!
Do you use fondant or inedible items to decorate?
I do not. I use edible decor items such as buttercream, chocolate and florals. I will occasionally use florals that are food-safe, but not ones you would really want to eat, when necessary for the aesthetic. Themed cakes that require inedible decor may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Do you copy reference pictures?
No - each cake that leaves my hands and enters into yours will be uniquely made for you. I am happy to take reference photos to gain a better understanding of what you are looking for, but they will never be copied exactly. Leave room for some trust in your cake baker and let us use our imaginations to create something beautiful for you.
Do you offer custom flavors?
YES. I love trying out new flavors, if you have special requests please do not hesitate to mention them. I will always give you my own suggestions as to what I think would be ideal for your cake. If you are looking for inspiration, it's ALWAYS okay to let me know what you like and don't like, and to ask for a recommendation!
Are deposits necessary for confirming large orders?
Yes! For large orders or wedding cakes, 50% deposit is necessary upon ordering. This reserves your date/time requested, and confirms that you have a reserved spot in my schedule. Full payment will be collected 2 weeks prior to the event date.
When is my order considered 'confirmed'?
Filling out a request form or sending an inquiry email does not in itself mean that your order is confirmed. If ordering a custom cake - your order is considered confirmed when I have reached out to acquire any necessary details, set a date/time for collection and you have either paid the order in full or put down a 50% deposit (applies to large orders).
